YQ230 adapter that permits use
of 50A, 125/250V cable set. #HBL61CM52, with two 30A, 125V
receptacles, #HBL26CM10. Problem: A boat owner with a
50A 125/250V electrical system on board cruises into a marina that
can only provide 30A 125V power.
Solution: Use of the Hubbell YQ230 Intelligent Adapter
permits the boat owner to use the boat's 50A 125/250V cable set and
safely plug into 2 oppositely phased 30A 125V receptacles.
Result: This will result in 30A 125/250V power so that
much of the boat's services can be used:
- Safely -- If one plug is not fully engaged, or
accidentally becomes disengaged while the other plug is plugged
in, the power is shut off preventing the disengaged plug from ever
becoming hot or live!
- Intelligently -- If an improper wiring condition such
as reversed polarity exists on the power center, the YQ230 detects
that and shuts the power off.
Also, the YQ230 will work
regardless of whether the marina is powered with a 125/250V system
or a 3-phase 120/208V system.
